He began his career as an illustrator for publications and advertising companies, and later became a political cartoonist before concentrating on writing and illustrating books for children. Geisel attended Dartmouth University as an English major, and then was a student at Lincoln College, Oxford, where he studied philosophy and literature. Seuss is the well-known pen name of American children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, who is famous for works such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Lorax.
